I absolutely love your characters and creations. I've read your response above and wonder if your testing was done with the most recent version of DS? I'm going to buy one of your products and test it in DS 4.1 and I'll let you know if I have any of the issues you've mentioned. If you want any of my files used in testing I'll email them to you. If your creations can work in the latest DS version you'll have a lot more customers.
I hope it does work because you have some awesome products!

you can download the

Summoner's Chest-Burster

this is a extreme sample of what would happen using this non supported type of rigging
in DS .
you will see that there is a Download link for DS this way you will be able to compare
on how it should work.

Poser was always adapted to DS but since Poser 10 Daz did not want to continue
with the compatibility offers. Sure he kept the option to Import the Poser models
and made new types of models that alomost can't be exported into Poser.
this way making hes own thing.
Poser made a huge step adapting and increasing the compatibility with most other
3D aplications to insure a smooth work-flow with these like Maya, 3d Max, Blender
Light Wave etc. Daz to ensure he's unique genesis methods then never adapted
the Rigging engine and remained on the old rigging system based on Poser 9 and bellow.

actually DS supports the Simple Weight Mapping in a Hidden way as the basics go from
there but Ds does not have the method to inter-prate this method into body-parts causing
the engine to work like Carrara and show the bones to make these work.

Basically Daz is trying to reserve hes own little 3d market not letting stuff in or out
by encryption like game Industries use in their Products and making Daz a type of
Sims World but this ends up to be rather a game then a real 3D Program that
woks smooth with other 3D applications.

It is the reason why I keep supporting Poser as it has a huge 3D Potential and is
always kept compatible using the Formats Provided in 3d High end engines

Frackin cool as the bee's knees Summoner! I will watch and and drool....unless you wanna stab at DS-ifying it?

....actually, I am curious....is it just the textures/materials that give it the "NOT supported in DS" disclaimer?
If so, do you have material zones set up on this and these and the base figure? If you do I can make it work....

Actually it is the Rigging system DS has Triax that means that it is WM based on capsules
a sort of conversion it still contains separate XYZ rigging. the ones I do are Real Wm
actually one rigging that replaces the xyz. it is then compatible with great engines and most
high end programs to export with the rigging , it then allows to mode-fie the mesh and
drop it back into Poser. Ds does not support this Rigging and will assume that the body-parts
are mechanic and remove the influences on load.
the other issue of DS is that it does not support Loose bones or non directly attached bone influence
indirect influences. this figure can be rigged that you move the Pinky and influence the toe at the same time
just by painting. a very exact way of bending! if one wants to fix a bending it will take him a few minutes
in Poser.
Ds has the Issue that they want to reserve there genesis as use only for DS causing major compatibility
issues they do not offer third party support but end up not getting any. If you look around you will notice that less and less creators will make standalone for DS
all is derived from genesis it gets more and more difficult to make bending figures for DS.
A good strategy as Artists get addicted to DS Provided Base figures.

I think that things have to be flexible and this method seems to be the best compatible with
most high end programs also the results are stunning.

if you look at the tube attached to the body and arm it will fallow with almost no issues the arm movements
a thing that is almost impossible to do with the DS Rigging unless you spend weeks just to get it right.

so no way to get it as good for DS and yes parts will break in DS until they fix update there Program.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all this it is very helpful...and although I do not use Poser and am pretty much a DS artist I truly appreciate everything you create and share Summoner.
It is a shame that the folks at DAZ have kind of pigeon holed themselves but as we all know they are all about the money and getting people to buy THEIR products. They seem to becoming less and less about the community and the artists and more about the profit.

Thanks again Summoner for everything you do and have done for our community
